2015 Goals for Blogging, Reading and Home

2015-goals-moms-small-victories
The New Year starts tomorrow and I can hardly believe it. I did pretty good working through my personal goals last year though I only blogged about them through August. Overall, I blogged more (yay!), read less (boo!) and failed miserably at getting the house decluttered (fooey!).

So here are my 2015 goals for blogging, reading and home… let’s do this!

Blogging

I am hoping using my free 2015 online blog planner will help me focus and be intentional about my blogging.

1. Double pageviews and subscribers.

2. Each month I am going to challenge myself to tackle a different aspect of my blog. I have a phenomenal Blogging Tips Board on Pinterest where I have been hoarding collecting fabulous blog tips. It’s about time I started working on them! I’ve got the first couple months figured out:
JANUARY: Navigation, updating categories and tags
FEBRUARY: Weekly Newsletter
MARCH: Clean up Pinterest boards, create Twitter Lists

3. Along with #2, I will be working my way through the Blog Design For Dummies (affiliate link) book by Melissa Culbertson. I redesigned my blog with the TweakMe theme and PicMonkey last year but I still want to fine tune it.

4. I will be working along with other book bloggers in this Book Bloggers Organization Challenge hosted by The Book Addict’s Guide. Here’s an overview:
JANUARY: Reading challenges & resolutions
FEBRUARY: Blog maintenance
MARCH: Social Media + Review Outlets
APRIL: Graphics, HTML, CSS, Plug-ins
MAY: Book clean-up + spring cleaning!
JUNE: Freebie

5. I won the Pinning Perfect class (affiliate link) by Blog Clarity from the Blogathon Games in October and look forward to taking it. Pinterest has become a higher source of traffic for me in 2014 and I need to learn how to optimize my account.

Reading

1. READ BOOKS I ALREADY OWN! I bought so many at the library book sale and won so many from blogger giveaways in 2014 that I could strictly read from this magnificent stack and be totally happy.

2. Read 50 books overall
* 12 for my IRL book club
* 10 for our Travel the World in Books Reading Challenge
* 10 for blog tours and review requests
* 5 for Classics Club reading challenge
* the rest for the fun of it!

3. Co-host readalongs and readathons for our Travel the World in Books reading challenge:
* The Poisonwood Bible readalong runs January 1st through 31st. Join in anytime to discuss!
* We have a few ideas we are tossing around including a foodie reads month and readalongs for Shadow of the Wind and Reading in Lolita in Tehran. What events celebrating books from around the world would you like to see?
* The Travel the World in Books Readathon last September was a huge success. We hope to do it again this fall!

Home

1. Do this 52-week Organized Home decluttering challenge! Maybe the support and enthusiasm of other bloggers will help keep me on track! Thanks to Rachel from A Life in Tune for letting me know about this challenge. Hoping we can stick with it.

  1. Best of luck on all your 2015 goals! I’m definitely interested in a Shadow of the Wind readalong, so I will be keeping my eyes peeled for that one!

  2. Great goals! I need to set some goals for tackling my blog – so I can finally get around to doing all of the things I know I SHOULD be doing, but never make time for.

  3. It’s encouraging to see you so excited to amp up the blogging. So many bloggers seem to be getting burned out and tired of it. No doubt it has changed in the years since I started but I can’t imagine giving up on it!

    1. Me too Tammy. Are you doing Bloggiesta or the Biannual Blogathon Bash this month? Both are long weekends dedicated to working on our blog to do lists. Thanks for stopping by

  4. Tanya, thank you for checking out my post on Friendship Friday and leaving a comment on my blog. I’ll leave a note for you there as well.

I am fascinated by your attention to detail and resources on blogging. I’ve had success at increasing my blog traffic through hosting occasional author interviews & giveaways, but really don’t know what else to do. I will be exploring your wonderful Pinterest board as soon as possible.

And if you’re ever successful at saying no to NetGalley, please share how you managed that! So glad to meet you online, Tanya!

    1. Lol, the only way I can say no to Netgalley is to turn off emails from them and that’s not happening! Thanks for the compliment and hope you find some helpful info on my Blogging Tips board. There is so much to learn/know!

    1. Do you mean you want to write an e-book Green Girl? That is fantastic. Simple, green and healthy living, I would want to read it! Have you done a NaNoWriMo before to focus one month on writing a book? I did the blogging version in November. It was hard but a worthwhile endeavor. Best of luck in 2015 and thanks for stopping by!

  5. Good luck with your goals! I forgot about the Blog Organization Challenge and will have to think about whether to jump in. Also very interested in the Travel the World challenge. The link-ups alone gave me good ideas about what I would like to read.

    1. Glad to hear it C.J. I hope you join our challenge! You decide how much you want to read and for how long you want to participate so its no pressure. I love the linkups too and give us all a chance to find new book recommendations. I can’t wait to work on my blog too. I have done a lot of blogging the last few years but really need to get it better organized. Every time I learn something new it seems there are 10 things I need to fix. Happy New Year!

  6. Great list of goals! I need to stop accepting review offers to concentrate on my massive TBR piles. I already have so many awesome books I need to read, but can’t seem to stop adding to the pile. And I’m going to be doing the declutter challenge too! Excited to finally get organized. Good luck to us both!

    1. Good idea Terri. I think I need to stop accepting review books too for a little while to catch up too. So many great books at my fingertips already and I can’t read fast enough. I’m excited about the decluttering challenge too. Let’s hope I can stick with it! Good luck and happy new year!

  7. I’ll have to check out your blogging tips Pinterest board. The tech side of things is my downfall and I need to learn more. I love your blog design and am hoping to have my redesign up in the first part of January (also using Tweak Me, but with the help of a web designer). I would also be interested in learning more about your Foodie Reads event.
    Happy New Year!

    1. Thanks Sarah for the compliment on my blog design. I love designing and toying with my blog so the Tweak Me theme is perfect for that. I look forward to your design. I am not great with the technical stuff either anf why I keep collecting resources to improve my blog. But it’s time to follow through! I was thinking for Foodie Reads month people just pick what they would like to read, have a Twitter chat and maybe a linkup for reviews. Happy New year to you too. Thanks for being a faithful supporter of my blog. I always love hearing from you.

    1. Sounds like you will make great progress for our Travel the World in Books reading challenge this year. Are you going to join us for the Poisonwood Bible readalong?
