January 2015 Event Sign Up

There are so many great reading and blogging events this month, I decided to go ahead and combine them into one mega-sign up post.

Bout of Books Readathon: Jan. 5-11, 2015

Bout of Books

The Bout of Books Readathon started today and runs through January 11th, 2015 with over 600 participants so far! It’s the place to be this week for book lovers!

I have a lot going on with trying to work through the Organized Home Challenge , keeping 2 kiddos entertained and budgeting for the new year but a mom’s gotta take a break to read! Our Poisonwood Bible Readalong is underway and as co-host that means I have to read! Book blogger “problems” 🙂

My goal is to read The Poisonwood Bible, that’s it. I’m almost halfway through and it’s not too late to join us, get info and sign up here!

Bloggiesta: Jan. 17-19, 2015

Part of my 2015 blogging goals is to complete the Book Blogger Organization Challenge and work through my Pinterest board of Blogging Tips. Bloggiesta is the perfect time to start working on it!

In short, Bloggiesta is a blogging marathon revolving around ticking off those items on your to-do list and improving your blog while in the good company of other awesome bloggers doing the same thing.

Goals:
1. Do this 10-Minute Touchup from Blog Clarity on How to Update Your Navigation Menu to Increase Pageviews.
2. Write 2 book reviews, Unbroken and Waiting for Snow in Havana.
3. Update my Travel the World in Books Reading Challenge goals. I’m so busy playing co-host that I completely forgot to update what I’ve read so far!
4. Participate in Twitter chat, Sunday 1/18/15 at 2pm EST.
5. Check out the mini-challenges.
6. Comment on 10 new-to-me blogs.
7. Update books read for Classics Club.

Biannual Blogathon Bash: Jan. 23-26, 2015

Similar to Bloggiesta, the Biannual Blogathon Bash is another blogging marathon to whittle down the blogging to-do list.

Goals: Whatever I didn’t get done during Bloggiesta and I’ll probably add a couple more as the time gets closer.

Take Control of Your TBR Challenge: March 1-31, 2015

Ok, this one isn’t until March but sign ups are open now! Caffeinated Book Reviewer hosts this challenge to read from our TBR pile. Since reading through my bookshelves is my focus this year, it’s a no-brainer to join this challenge hosted by one of my favorite book bloggers.

Goal: Read 2 books from TBR.

    1. Glad you are joining in. So excited to hear about grandbaby. It’s my son’s birthday month too and I can hardly believe how big he is already. Enjoy all the snuggles!

  1. Good luck with all of your challenges and goals. The only challenge that I’m trying is to read 100 books in 2015. I don’t think that I could do as many as you are!

    1. My goal is actually only 50 books in 2015 Elizabeth. Sometimes they qualify for more than one challenge at a time though 🙂 I still have to finish my first book of 2015, I’m already behind!! Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Ooh that’s a lot of great blogging and reading challenge this month. I really need to participate in Blogiesta one of these times, but I do try to keep up with reading all the mini challenge posts for information 🙂

    1. I love the mini-challenge ideas. I need to get them all on my master to-do list! Hope you get to participate at the next one maybe, when darling baby is a little older.

  3. Oh, wow! I love your blogging tips pinterest board and am following it now. I really need to redo my blog, planning for it, but I struggle to find the time. I won’t be joining the bloggiesta but am taking notes from your pinterest board to try something a little different with my blog.

Thanks for linking up with spread the love!

    1. Thanks Nish. Every bit helps when it comes to planning and getting blog work done! I am glad you found my Blogging Tips board helpful. I love collecting them, now gotta implement them!

  4. You never cease to amaze me. Not only do you post yummy recipes for everyone to try but you always have a list of wonderful events that every blogger can join and learn from. Whether they been in the business for years or just out the box like I am. The Control my TBR Pile is something I need to focus on because I know there are some dusty books on my shelves crying to be read…lol. Sadly, most often than not I can’t keep to my tbr pile. Maybe this will help me. As always great post.

    1. Thanks so much Sanovia for each and every wonderful thing you said. I hope I can stick to my TBR. I don’t buy many paper books (I read more electronically) so the ones I have I treasure and cherish. And yet I have filled up my bookshelf. Hope you can join in some of these great events. I always learn something from the Bloggiesta and BBB chats and mini challenges. There are plenty of bloggers who have been doing this longer than me and they are so helpful too! Thanks for visiting, glad to hear from you!

  5. I’m planning on doing the Bloggiesta, and will most likely focus on writing reviews and organizing my reviews on my blog. I considered Bout of Books but just couldn’t commit to it this week. I really shouldn’t read anything this week because I’m so behind on reviews!!

    1. Well let’s not talk about how far behind I am in review writing. If it’s not for a blog tour, reviews fall by the wayside. I am always reading something though so need to catch up on reviews during Bloggiesta. Thanks for stopping by Julie!

    1. Glad you loved Poisonwood, I hope you will stop back by to discuss it with us! I know I have too many books on my shelves that have never been cracked open. I look forward to reading them.

  6. So I’m on a bit of a commenting spree, lol!

I keep meaning to sign up for mini Bloggiesta but I hardly ever switch my computer on over the weekend. And then by the time big Bloggiesta comes a round I usually miss the run up and have nothing planned 🙁

  7. I’ve never joined in with any blogger reading challenges. But I do have a copy of The Poisonwood Bible I’ve been meaning to read for forever. I should pull it out of the to be read box (yes, I have a box!) and start it.

    1. I hope you read Poisonwood Bible and stop back to by to discuss it with us when you’ve read the pages. I would love to hear what you think! I have probably 50 books I haven’t read and will be focusing on reading off my bookshelves after Poisonwood Bible is done! Thanks for stopping by!

  8. Lots of great events–I do see the flurry of blogger activity now! I may have to follow a lot of it vicariously, just reading what others are up to. You have some great choices lined up and I will enjoy seeing your activities. Looking forward to the Readalong chat especially!
