Synopsis:

From Best-selling Amazon author Lars Guignard comes the number-one turbo-charged, action spy thriller Lethal Circuit.

A Chinese satellite is on a crash course with Earth.

It contains enough plutonium to irradiate a large city.

And that’s the good news…

Michael Chase is a twenty-six year old backpacker, a recent college graduate, an amateur. He flew to Hong Kong to find his missing father. Four hours later, he’s running for his life. The Chinese Secret Police want him dead. The Conspiracy wants him dead. And the one person who he thinks is on his side, may want him dead too. If Michael is going to live, he’ll need to find a hidden piece of Nazi technology lost since World War II. And he’ll have to do it before anyone else. Because if he doesn’t, a little plutonium is going to be the least of his problems.

Can Michael Chase team up with a beautiful but deadly MI6 agent to locate a lethal piece of Nazi technology that will save the world?

If you can’t get enough of the action of Lee Child and Vince Flynn, the intrigue of Robert Ludlum, and the adventure of Clive Cussler and James Rollins, you are going to LOVE Lethal Circuit!

My Thoughts

Hello! I’m Tanya and welcome to Mom’s Small Victories stop on the Lethal Circuit Blog Tour.

We love spy action movies but I have never read or listened to a spy thriller book. When Candace at Candace’s Book Blog and CBB Promotions contacted me about listening to the audiobook, I decided to give it a try. I love listening to audiobooks when I need to stay awake on a long drive or I am doing housework and I always have one going on my phone.

Lethal Circuit has all the elements of an engaging spy novel: fast-paced, jaw-dropping action, a race against time before a nuclear reaction annihilates life on the West Coast of the US, betrayal and espionage. Michael Chase doesn’t know what he’s getting himself into when he tries to find the father they buried but who he thinks might still be alive. What was his father after and why does the trail lead Michael halfway across the world to Hong Kong? On a chase that starts in Hong Kong and takes him through remote villages of China, Michael does not give up on his quest for the truth.

I enjoyed the author’s writing style, he gave enough technical detail to support the intensity of the action and to make the reader feel the heat and peril of Michael’s situation. Some of the action is a but far-fetched, but isn’t achieving the impossible part of what we love about spy movies and books? This book had me captivated and was unpredictable, I never guessed what would happen next.

I thought it unique the way the author alternated the present with lessons Michael’s father taught him during his childhood. Michael’s close relationship with his father made me root for him to the dramatic, hanging off the cliff end.

Narrator Ben Sullivan was fantastic. Often, I have a problem with solo male narrators doing squeaky, high pitched voices for the female characters. However, Ben was seamless in transitioning between male and female voices and even between English, American and Chinese accents. I was amazed that all the voices came from the same narrator.

This was my first experience with using the Audible app* on my Droid to listen and it was easy to use and had good quality sound. Thanks Candace for passing this audiobook along, I thoroughly enjoyed the first story in the Michael Chase series and look forward to seeing what adventure the next book takes Michael on.
