Welcome to our Small Victories Sunday Linky!

This weekly post will recap for you the reading, cooking, health and personal goals I have been working towards this week and the achievements I’ve made both big and small. Each small victory brings me closer to achieving my personal goals for 2014. Focusing on my small victories has helped me gain a healthier and more positive attitude as I juggle my 3 boys and the physical impairment of Rheumatoid Arthritis (a chronic and incurable illness). I thought Sunday would be a perfect day to reflect on the week that passed and look forward to the week ahead. Please join me by linking up to 3 of your favorite family-friendly posts!

My Weekly Recap and Next Week’s Goals:

I finished reading Where’d You Go, Bernadette? Very creative format using emails, faxes, notes, transcripts and other documents to tell the majority of the story from various characters’ points of view. The story itself was fun as everyone is looking for Bernadette, an eccentric former architect and mom who goes missing. There are certainly some unexpected plot twists. Not a book I got overly excited about, but an enjoyable read.

paris rue des martyrs
I received Paris, Rue des Martyrs from the author for review. This past week I got my Remicade infusion which makes me too tired to do much of anything. So I read this entire book in one sitting (and until 3:15am)! I really could not put it down. A very unique ensemble of characters who are not just neighbors in the same Paris apartment building, but whose lives are intertwined in unexpected ways.

shadow of the wind

When I updated my Around the World in 80 Days Reading Challenge post for Throwback Thursday last week, I realized I haven’t been getting to any new countries in my worldwide journey through books. Spain is my husband’s and mine favorite country we’ve visited. I had heard such marvelous reviews about Shadow of the Wind, set in Spain, and was lucky to find it at the library. The first chapter about the “Cemetery of Forgotten Books” had me mesmerized and I think I am in for a real treat. Loving this book so far!

Last week, my two younger kids were away at their grandparent’s house. It was eerily quiet just having our oldest at home who was very mature when his little brothers weren’t around. I cooked some of my oldest son’s favorites as a way to spoil him since he was in school and didn’t get to go to his grandparents’ house.

Next week’s blogging plan:

    • Armchair BEA participant sign-ups are now open! Get involved in this fun online version of the Book Expo of America. We need commenting cheerleaders to visit the hundreds of participants and cheerleaders sign up starts Monday!
    • Co-hosting Throwback Thursday so get your pins and old posts ready!

    • I was thankful the 2 youngest got to spend the week at grandparents. Instead of relaxing, I worked my tail off cleaning and organizing! I weeded the front garden beds and I got 108 hangers of kids clothes ready to sell. Cleaned the oven. And as you can tell, a ton of cooking! And not a whole lotta blogging as a result.
    • I finished Season 2 of Scandal on Netflix. OMG, that show is so good!
    • I broke my own personal record in page views for a single post. Thanks to StumbleUpon, my 50 Bookish Things to Do Before I Die List broke the record for me!

    • I agree, I love when books take me by surprise! Looks like you had quite a full week of good books. Hope you enjoy your reading this week too.

  1. Thank you for highlighting my review of The Storyteller! I’m looking forward to your review of Paris Rue des Martyrs and The Shadow of the Wind (which is like my favorite book!)

    • You’re welcome Melinda! I have not read a Picoult novel in awhile but I do enjoy them. I can see why everyone loves Shadow of the Wind! If it continues this way, it is bound to be one of my favorite books too!

  2. I included Michael Tonellos’s book “Bringing Home the Birkin” on my 80-book challenge list even though I read it a few years ago. I don’t really recommend the book, but it did make me want to visit Barcelona. I haven’t read anything for the challenge lately. At one point last week ,I realized I committed to reading 9 book over the next 2 months. I need to stop this craziness.

Thanks for hosting the linky again. I love the quality of posts you receive. I’ve already read several great posts.

    • Yea I kind of overextended myself with different book club commitments. Are you joining Book Wheel and Love at First Book to read Reading Lolita in Tehran in May? I thought it would be a good way to participate in their book club and knock one off for this challenge.

    • Certainly! I love recipes and sharing/trying new ones. So glad you linked up and you saved our linky this week with your tip about the ZipList Plugin during SITS Sharefest. Looks like lots of people are having problems with updates. Thanks for linking up and feel free to linkup to 3 recipes!
