Small Victories Sunday Linky {19} – The One Where My Family Loves My Cooking

May 10, 2014 Small Victories Sunday 16

Welcome to our Small Victories Sunday Linky!

This weekly post will recap for you the reading, cooking, health and personal goals I have been working towards this week and the achievements I’ve made both big and small. Each small victory brings me closer to achieving my personal goals for 2014. Focusing on my small victories has helped me gain a healthier and more positive attitude as I juggle my 3 boys and the physical impairment of Rheumatoid Arthritis (a chronic and incurable illness). I thought Sunday would be a perfect day to reflect on the week that passed and look forward to the week ahead. Please join me by linking up to 3 of your favorite family-friendly posts!

Link # 29: Driftwood Gardens’ Teacher Appreciation Day – great gift ideas for the teachers that do so much for our kids.

Link # 62: The Cookie Puzzle’s Neopolitan Bark. I craved neopolitan ice cream when pregnant with my oldest son and still love it to this day. This candy bark looks delicious!

My Weekly Recap and Next Week’s Goals:

READING:

shadow of the wind

I am still loving Shadow of the Wind. I’m about 50% through the book and I can’t read it quickly enough. It’s mysterious, mesmerizing and just beautifully written.

20000-leagues-under-the-sea

I downloaded 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne from the library, one of my Classics Club Book List selections. It was a very dry start, but now that they are on the voyage and searching for the infamous sea monster, I am enjoying it. Hope I can survive the voyage!

COOKING:

Ok, so I totally bombed on my meal plan from last week. We spent lots of time at the playground and having picnics, the weather was too beautiful to pass up.

Next Week’s Menu Plan:

BLOGGING:

Next week’s blogging plan:

  • Bout of Books readathon is starting Monday, need to write down my goals
  • Co-hosting Throwback Thursday so get your pins and old posts ready!
  • April achievements and May goals

THANKFUL FOR SMALL VICTORIES:

  • I made a Nana’s Jar of Promises and Kisses for Mother’s Day gift using this idea from Pinterest. I used Dove Promises and asked the kids what they promised for their nana. Superhubby and I made promises too, I hope she likes it.
  • My Cilantro-Lime Salad Dressing Recipe was featured on Tasty Tuesdays with Creative K Kids. Thanks Tammy for the feature and the link-up of great recipes!
  • My Superhubby said he doesn’t enjoy eating out anymore because he loves my cooking. I work hard on menu planning, grocery shopping and coupon clipping, besides the physical act of cooking and cleaning up. I feel like most of my day is in the kitchen or planning food. It’s so nice to feel appreciated! The kids think I should open a restaurant and even thought of a name and menu for it.
  • I tackled some closet reorganization and hung a few of my sleeveless and silky shirts on Huggable Hangers so they don’t keep slipping off. I need to work on donating some items I have not worn in awhile.

Thanks so much for hosting this link-up! That is sweet what your hubby says about your cooking! The only thing my hubby says he prefers to still eat out is steak, but only if it its at a really, really nice place hehe Otherwise he too prefers eating at home whenever possible, he says I love how you can tailor the meals specifically to what we like (he is uber picky so that is important lol). Sounds like you had a great last week! Look forward to your posts this week!

Yea, steak is my hubby’s weak spot also. I grilled some great steak for him but I have yet to master a filet. Thankfully, his parents made us some this weekend so he’s set on steak for a little while anyway :) He’s extended a challenge for me to make him the perfect filet, and I’m gonna get it! :)

You’re welcome for hosting the linkup and so glad you enjoy it Kate!
