My Thoughts:
I read Kimberly Belle’s debut novel The Last Breath and could not put the book down. Kimberly’s writing reminds me of my favorite author Diane Chamberlain. The Last Breath’s characters are so real and relatable, I feel like a part of their lives and am somehow changed by their story.
When I saw that Kimberly’s second book, The Ones We Trust, was out on a TLC Book Tour, I jumped at the chance to review it. I hoped I’d love it as much as The Last Breath, so question is, did I?
Well, in case you didn’t notice the 5-star rating at the top of the post, I absolutely loved The Ones We Trust! Kimberly does it again and gave me a reading experience where I felt mom Jean Armstrong’s overwhelming angst as she tries to piece together how her son, Zach, was killed. I actually was getting too emotionally involved and had to distance myself from Jean, like me, the mother of three sons before I completely lost it. I can’t read when I’m bawling and I just had to keep reading and know what happened!
Gabe was another swoon worthy leading male character, handsome, strong yet vulnerable. His life is shattered when his brother Zach dies during the war alongside his other brother, Nick. Can he trust the Army’s story about how Zach died? Can he put back the pieces of his family’s life?
Abigail’s career is shattered after she trusts the word of someone she shouldn’t. Together, their determined quest for the truth takes them on a journey they won’t soon forget. Will Gabe and Abigail be able to overcome their personal demons? Are the people they love most worthy of their trust? Will Gabe and Abigail be able to handle the truth?
A Few Good Men meets Scandal in this intense drama about a military family who is seeking the truth about the death of their beloved son and brother, killed during war. Moving, poignant and intense, The Ones We Trust gave me a book hangover. My heart still aches for the characters and the military families they represent who lose loved ones, emotionally and physically, fighting for our freedom. With two 5-star books already, Kimberly Belle is becoming a must read author for me, I can’t wait to see what kind of drama she has in store for me next.

I love to read, and have an eclectic taste. But I always have to read every Stephanie Plum book by Janet Evanovich… Love the series so much!
