2014 Big Book Summer Reading Challenge

Well I told Sue from Book by Book that I would sign up for her Big Book Summer Reading Challenge, so I am here to make good on my word. This challenge runs through Labor Day weekend and the goal is to read books that are 400 pages long.

My goals are simple because we are reading through the Harry Potter series for my IRL book club with our kids, and those definitely qualify! I hope to read and updates for books read:

1. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling – Done!
2. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling
3. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling
4. River of No Return by Bee Ridgeway
5. The Forgotten Daughter by Renita d’Silva – Done!

While I don’t think I will get through all 3 Harry Potters, I did put River of No Return on the list too for a little variety. I own all of these books and would love to dive in!

What’s on your summer reading list? Do you like reading big books?

  1. So glad you decided to sign up for the Big Book Summer Challenge, Tanya!

You have already made a good dent in your goals for the summer – enjoy the rest of your Big Books! I loved the HP books…and they tend to go a lot quicker than other big books because you can’t put them down!

    1. Thanks Sue, yea, I totally forgot to link up my post when i wrote it in June so by the time I did, I was already done with two! Thanks for hosting!

  2. Love that you’re reading HP with your kids! I started getting copies of all the books in hardcover right after my daughter was born so I’d be ready when she’s old enough. I can’t wait to share these with her!

    1. Oh it is fun having the kid’s perspective on the books. And our kids are avid readers and best friends. We have all the hardcovers also but they are too cumbersome for me to hold so I borrow them on my Kindle. The books are so creative and hopefully she reads them before seeing the movies. 🙂 My oldest son had read the books first but I wish I had!

  3. I adore the Harry Potter series – I’ve literally re-read my copies so many times the pages are falling out of the bindings! I totally need to get on my summer reading – I haven’t even started and now it’s REALLY summer!!!!

  4. I was literally just looking at my bookshelves a half hour ago thinking that I’d like to knock off one or two of those biggies over the summer! I’m heading over to sign up.
