Armchair BEA kicks off today and am excited to participate for the first time. If you’re a first time visitor to my site…welcome to Mom’s Small Victories!

Don’t know what Armchair BEA is? Well here’s their mission:

Armchair BEA is the experience for book bloggers to participate in Book Expo America (BEA) from the comfort of their homes. This experience is created lovingly by book bloggers specifically for our peers who for whatever reason are not able to participate in the main conference in New York each year. We bring publishers, authors, and bloggers together in celebrating our love for all things literary by hosting celebrations such as sneak peeks, daily discussion topics, and sponsored giveaways.

In order to get to know me better, here are my responses to some of the introduction questions:

Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?

I’m Tanya, the busy and often panicked, mother of 3 boys and recently book-obsessed reader and blogger. I have been blogging on this site for a little over a year and here’s why I started blogging.

Where in the world are you blogging from? Tell a random fact or something special about your current location.

North Carolina, where the tea is sweet and the honeysuckle trees provide a refreshing drop of honey in each bloom. It’s a gorgeous state with white sandy beaches on the East Coast, beautiful and breathtaking mountains on the West side and lush, green landscape and vibrant wildflowers in between.

What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2013?

This year has been full of great books for me. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Sarah’s Key by Tatiana de Rosnay and To Kill a Mockingbird are my top 5 (I can’t just pick one).

Name your favorite blog(s) and explain why they are your favorite(s).

Ok, another I’ll have to name my top 4 favorite blogs. Besides just our same first name, Girl XOXO and I share an interest in reading books from around the world. She hosts an Olympic Challenge and Challenges to read various Award Winning books. The Book Wheel, Love at First Book and The Relentless Reader for the sheer speed and variety of the books they read in literary, historical, political and classical fiction. They host great giveaways, a book club and I can count of them for an interesting conversation about the books we’ve read.

If you could eat dinner with any author or character, who would it be and why?

Diane Chamberlain continues to be my favorite author. She is very down-to-earth and a genuinely nice person I think her background in social work and psychotherapy allows her to be very creative in coming up with her character’s back stories. Each character is unique and so well developed, that I love being part of their story and I actually miss them when I stop reading the book.

Thanks for visiting and tell me where I can find you and your blog. I’m also an Armchair BEA Cheerleader so I’ll be stopping by to visit many of you this week!

  1. Wow I had no idea honeysuckle trees actually have honey in them. My aunt lives in North Carolina, I’ve been up there once but didn’t really get to explore.. I guess we learn something new everyday (:

  2. My mom lives in North Carolina, so I get down there every once in a while – it is a beautiful area!

I’ve read a few books by Diane Chamberlain and really need to pick up more of her work – I always end up loving her stories.

    Have a great week!
