Bookish Thanks Photo Challenge Days 1-8 #BookishThanks
I am joining A Lovely Bookshelf on the Wall’s Bookish Thanks photo challenge. I haven’t been able to post a picture everyday and with NaBloPoMo this month, I decided to do a weekly recap on Saturdays. Here’s #1-8 and I am posting these on Instagram as well so be sure to follow me there and others participating in the challenge with the #BookishThanks hashtag.
1. Made Me Laugh
Both of these made me laugh out loud. Snow Angels because of the situations the characters get themselves into and I Just Want to Pee Alone because every mother has thought this and been through these scenarios at some point and they are funny…. in hindsight.
2. Scared Me Silly…
Devil in the White City because an unassuming handsome, charismatic doctor hid the sick, twisted mind of a serial killer. The other thing that scares me silly is creepy, possessed kids.
3. Couldn’t Put it Down…
Seven Letters from Paris because I seriously read it all in one day. It was passionate, romantic, and an enchanting modern fairytale. After reading so much drama and mystery, it’s nice to read a real-life romance and those love letters made me swoon!
4. Love the cover
The Poet’s Wife – I got this to read during the Travel the World in Books Readathon and the cover is just so strikingly beautiful and classic to me. I can’t wait to dive into historic Spain!
5. Must Share With Others…
This Dark Road to Mercy – I gave this one a rave review and see myself loaning this out to friends in my book club. They can’t have it though, I like it too much and hope to get it signed one day! I love supporting NC authors so I’ll be sharing this one as much as I can, he’s an author to watch for me.
6. Comfort Read…
Little Women because it was such a feel-good story about a mother and her daughters. When I’m reminded of this book, I remember how Marmee tells her daughters that her virtuous patience is something she worked very hard to achieve and it took her years to perfect. When I feel myself losing patience, I need to channel my inner Marmee and this book for comfort. That I’m not the only mother that struggles with being patient and it takes hard work to achieve.
7. Makes Me Love Paper…
Someone Else’s Love Story – though you can’t tell in the picture, the paper is thick with torn edges. If I’m going to read a paper book, I love a book with that authentic, rough feel to it.
8. Recommended by a Friend…
My best friend and book club member recommended Poisonwood Bible to me ages ago and even let me borrow it. I couldn’t get into it then but I’m going to give it a second try for our Travel the World in Books Reading Challenge since it takes place in Africa and everyone raves about it. In fact, my challenge co-hosts and I have selected it to do a readalong/book club discussion about it in January so grab yourself a copy and be ready to join us!
So tell me, what books would you choose for these categories? If you’re participating in this challenge, leave me a link to where you’re posting your pictures so I can be sure to check it out!
Yay Poisonwood Bible! Hooray!
Devil in the White City was creepy! I couldn’t get the image from Lovely Bookshelf to post on mine! iPad was being grumpy. Awesome post!
I have not read any of the books that you have listed except for Little Women. Had to read that in 8th grade.
I’m definitely putting Devil in the White City. Always looking for a scary read to add to my book collection.
Love the wrap up of photos!
