Feature & Follow {2} – Book Series I Abandoned

This week’s question is:
Q: Have you broken up with a series? If so which one and why?
I started out reading Chick Lit books because I needed light-hearted reads. I saw the Confessions of a Shopaholic movie and thought that would be a fun series to read. I tried it but gave up on it. I found the character a little too flighty and shallow for my taste. Bex made a great movie character but I didn’t enjoy Shopaholic Takes Manhattan and Shopaholic Ties the Knot as much.
I also read In the Woods by Tana French which is the first book in the Dublin Murder Squad series but I was a little too disappointed in the ending to pick up book #2 just yet.
I’ve read the first book in The Hunger Games Series, The Alchemyst Series (The Immortal Nicholas Flamel), The Vampire Chronicles Series (Interview with the Vampire), and The Wicked Series but haven’t gotten to read the second book yet. Guess I need to finish off some series this summer!

I happily broke up with 50 Shades. And In the Woods, too, but I don’t count that because I didn’t know it was a series book when I started and I think the stories are mainly independent of each other.
I guess you’d better get reading! I loved The Hunger Games (although the first book was definitely the best in the series). I also really enjoyed the Wicked series, but I don’t think I ever finished it either. I read the first two books, but that was it. I’m pretty sure there was at least a third.

I’ve started a lot of series that I need to finish at some point! Everything seems to be a series these days.

Hi Tanya 🙂 I haven’t actually read any of the series you mention here, but I know the feeling. It’s always a little sad, to me at least, when I give up on a series that had great promise.

I only watched Confessions of a Shopaholic, fell in love with the soundtrack, but I never did get to read the books, or its sequels… although I stopped reading Chic Lit after that horrible Modelland experience :(( But Maybe I should try it out! I loved Hunger Games till the end, but not so much the Nicholas Flamel one. Great post! 🙂

I love the second Tana French book, I highly recommend reading it. No ambiguous ending!
I forgot about the Wicked series – I read the first one but never continued. I heard that the main character kind of changed in the next book so I was a bit put off by that I guess.
