Getting to Know the Geeky Bloggers Book Blog
Although the Bloggiesta book blogging marathon is over, participants are still eligible to do the Getting to Know You Challenge where we try to get to know another book blogger by cruising around their blog. I have decided to tell you about Felicia from The Geeky Bloggers Book Blog who I came upon during my Bloggiesta adventures.
Felicia is a North Texas gal with quite a personality, an apparent love for getting into character (just see her About page) and a love, of course, for books. She is not accepting books for review in 2013 and is focusing on reading those books she wants to read. She enjoys romance, mystery/thrillers and some non-fiction.
I enjoyed hopping around her blog and found that she does several recurring features that are interesting, like Favorite Book Quotes or Reading Quotes where Felicia shares an awesome quote from a book or about books and Blogger Confessions where she writes candidly, in this case about why blog tours are not miracle workers. She is also a World Book Night giver which gives her an opportunity to distribute free copies of a book to help encourage non-readers to give reading a chance and she’s participating in the Seriously Series Reading Challenge. Seriously? Do I need to sign up for another challenge? No, but that makes it no less tempting.
Although she asks us to “forgive the mess”, I was really drawn to Felicia’s blog design, the cool lady in the blog button, and a neat navigation bar where you can choose from a wide variety of authors, quotes, ratings by wine glasses, challenges and book genre to take you anywhere you want to go in her site. I think it makes it quite neat and concise to include the tags in a navigation bar, especially cause she has written so much! Felicia has been blogging since 2006 but I am a new follower and look forward to her posts, finding some good mysteries to read, and seeing what her blog looks like when the design is through.
Find Felicia on her blog, on Facebook, on Twitter and on Bloglovin’.
Please pay Felicia a visit and others in the Getting to Know You Challenge. I hope you’ll enjoy cruising around these blogs as much as I have!
What new book blogs have you visited this week? What features do you like in a book blog? Give a shout-out to your favorite book bloggers or book-related sites and as always, happy reading!
A nice post! I’ve visited Felicia’s blog before, but it’s nice to see her featured here. Thanks for visiting my blog during Bloggiesta. Clicking around yours I saw “RA” Resources and thought “Reader’s Advisory” because that’s what RA stands for in Library Land, even though I had read your bio already. Funny how the mind gets stuck in ruts!
Hi Laurie! I am glad you liked Felicia’s feature. I am glad you mentioned that RA also stands for “Reader’s Advisory”. When creating my header, I almost just put RA rather than spelling it out. I’m glad I opted to spell it out, although maybe I should in the menu for the RA Resources page as well just in case. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and hope to hear from you again soon.
Wonderful post Tanya, and you described Felicia perfectly! This sounds like a wonderful activity and it is always nice to meet fellow book lovers and bloggers,
Thanks Kimbacaffeinate! I love meeting and featuring new book bloggers, everyday I meet someone new and love discussing and finding good books! I probably spend too much time blog hopping than writing my own reviews! Thanks for stopping by and I’m a new fan of yours on just about all the social media that I’m on.
Felicia ROCKS! I so agree! She even directed me here and now you have a new bloglovin’ follower! 🙂
Aw thanks Melissa and to Felicia too. So nice of her to mention me back to all her fans. I am lovin Bloglovin and appreciate the follow. You’ve introduced me to a new series with the Kitty Norville books on your blog. Nice to meet you Melissa and hope you return soon!
I *LOVE* Felicia!! What a great write up about her!
Without a doubt the best part of the book blogging world is the amazing people 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Tara and the compliment. I was glad to do the writeup and would love to do it more regularly. I used to feature a Facebook fan like that and haven’t in awhile. Thanks for the reminder, I need to get back to doing that.
Glad you found me and i am off to visit you!
I was silly happy when I saw this today 🙂
I love making new friends and supporting the community. I think that is the one thing I really love about us bloggers–on a whole we are a supportive group 🙂
Oh and that plug-in is the bomb diggity. I am still messing around with the settings but just out of the box it fit most of my needs which is awesome. I can’t find pants that do that LOL
Aw Felicia, I love making people silly happy. 🙂 I gotta agree with you about how supportive bloggers are, if it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t write. The sense of community, finding people with common interests and meeting people I wouldn’t otherwise is pretty awesome. You mention you can’t find pants that fit outta the box…for me its swimsuits…ugh.
Long time Felicia follower here! She is such a great, warm and fun lady! She is always there if you need help. She’s also a ton of fun. Enjoy getting to know here. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Stephanie. I was asking Felicia about the Book Blogger plugin and she was very helpful. I consider myself a fairly new book blogger and she’s clearly very experienced and great at reviewing/blogging. I stayed on her blog for a long while and enjoyed my visit so thought I would write my feature on her. Glad to have found you too, and love that you are doing a Harry Potter read along! Hope to hear from you again soon.
Awesome post. Felicia is fabulous.
Thanks Juju, Felicia is fabulous and felt compelled to feature her and flattered she returned the favor (try to say that 10 times fast, heehee). Thanks for introducing yourself to me Juju and I’m a new follower on your blog as well. Glad to meet ya and hope you return again soon.
Thanks for the introduction to Felicia! It’s always fun to meet new bloggers…new to me, anyway. That’s why I dropped by your blog from SITS. Hope you will do the same.
Thanks Eva for stopping by. I am totally with you on the massage guy on your post, he wouldn’t come near me with a 10 foot pole! Thanks for the laugh, enjoyed my visit to your WTF Wednesday post.
I’ve seen her around, and need to get to know her better. Thanks for the introduction! 🙂
You’re welcome Suey, thanks for this challenge, it’s perfect for me as I love getting to know and networking other bloggers. I am glad too you extended the deadline for getting this done since I was out of commission on Sunday. Thanks to you and Danielle for hosting such a wonderful event!
Great feature Tanya 🙂 Nice to “meet” you Felicia! I visited Felicia’s blog in the course of the Bloggiesta and totally love the look of her blog!
I’ve met so many great new (to me) people recently. I really should do this feature too shouldn’t I?
Thanks Jennifer, I love this mini-challenge and I’d love to make this a regular kind of feature thing. There are so many great book and other bloggers out there that I’ve come across these last couple years. I just need more time to write, too many ideas, too little time.
I would write something up if you have time today Jennifer since you visited everyone who participated in Bloggiesta. You can still post and link-up and have a chance to win a $10 Amazon GC. I’d love to see who you feature and add another great book blog to my reader.
