A lot of traditional goal planners are overwhelming. Here’s why:
- they have a lot of probing questions that you don’t have the mental energy to deal with
- or they say your goals have to be SMART when you struggle with just figuring out what your goal should be
- or they ask you to set goals in a zillion life areas when you struggle with just finishing one goal
- or you have a ton of goal ideas you want to get done and can’t prioritize which needs to be done first
- or it costs more than you want to pay for pages that go mostly unused
- or its too rigid with yearly, quarterly or monthly goalsetting when you just can’t commit to the routine every time.
It ends up that goal setting is so overwhelming that you just don’t start or if you do, you don’t follow through.
Does any of that sound like you? Yea, me too.
I created the Simple Goals Planner pdf because I was in the exact same place as I was heading into 2023. I love goal setting but I didn’t want to pay for a traditional goal planner that I couldn’t stick with.

- turn struggles into opportunities – reframe your struggles into opportunities to learn, grow and improve.
- turn your gifts into goals – write the things you are good at naturally. what do people compliment you on. think about how you can turn your gifts into goals to benefit your home, family, work or community. it’s your chance to be creative and seek out new ways to turn your gifts into something to benefit those around you
- continue momentum for success – write down the things you are already good at or routines that are already in place and working well. You want to keep the momentum going on those goals that are growing well.
- 2 goal ideas dot grid pages so you can brain dump or mindsweep all your ideas
3. Objectively Prioritize Your Goals and Write Down Your Final Goals
Next, the Simple Goals Planner pdf will help you take all those great ideas from the brainstorming pages and prioritize them.
I know this is where many of us with low energy or low focus get overwhelmed. We feel like we have too many things to do and not enough energy to do a fraction of them. And we don’t know what to do first.
I’ve got the solution! The goal priorities matrix is a chart where you write all those goal ideas down from the previous pages and then rank them from 1 (low) to 10 (high) impact on your home, health, mind, family and community. You add up the score for each goal and that score can help you decide which goals will have the most positive impact on your life.
You can choose all high priority goals or a mix of one high priority and one fun goal.
There are 4 My Goals pages where you can choose your final 3, 4, or 8 goals or use the dot grid page to choose as many goals you want. The choice is yours and you print up only the sheet you need. No pressure to fill in every page or every goal.
Personally, I pick 3 goals, one for our home/family, one for our finances and one just for fun for me! And I write my goal statements with the formula
I want to [my goal] so i can [my why]…..
ex. I want to get into a budget routine so we can save our money and spend it on what we truly need and want
ex. I want to fix up my son’s room so he can have a fun and safe room he really loves
ex. I want to create 15 products for my Etsy shop I can grow my business doing something I love.
4. Break Your Goals Down into Manageable Pieces and Review Your Goals
The Goal Breakdown Tracker in the Simple Goals Planner pdf is where you can write down your final goal description and the steps you need to achieve that goal. I like to break my action steps down by 30 minuteish energy blocks because with my lack of energy and focus I have to break things down a lot so i can see and celebrate the progress made on my goals.
There are 25 spaces and you can print up as many pages as you need for longer projects.
The goal breakdown tracker also has a space to write how you celebrated completing the goal or that phase of the goal. Not what you will do to celebrate, what you DID to celebrate! Grab one of the ideas off your things that bring you joy or things that make you feel better lists if you need an idea of how to reward yourself
There is also one page for a goal review so you can write down your victories, lessons learned and how did achieving the goal impact your life.
5. Use the Monthly Calendars to Map Out Tasks or Write Down Your Small Victories
Select a calendar style and plot when you are going to work on each step of your goal on This Month’s Calendar and/or what you accomplished in the Small Victories Calendar.
6. Make it Fun and Track Your Goal Progress!
Use any of the 8 Goal Progress Trackers in the Simple Goals Planner pdf to track your progress to completing your goal. This helps you see how far you’ve really come even on your low energy or low focus days when you feel like you aren’t making progress. Color in a piece every time you complete one of the 25 steps from the goal breakdown worksheet.
You may think it’s small but those small victories add up! And this gives you a way to see it. I recommend hanging at least this page where you and your family will see it each day to help keep you motivated to crush it!
Bonus! Habit trackers
Use the habit trackers to make working on your goals a habit or any other habits you want to track. Monthly and annual trackers to choose from
I know there is a lot in this planner to call it a “Simple” Goals Planner pdf. But I really tried to break it down into a few pages for each step to give you options so you can choose what works for you. You can print it all at once or a few pages at a time so that you don’t overwhelm yourself. I kept the design minimal if you like clean or simple or you can add whatever colorful and creative flair you want. I had too much fun creating those goal and habit trackers though. I love coloring mine in so I wanted to give you plenty to choose from on your journey to set and ACHIEVE meaningful goals!

Here are some tips and ideas to get started using the Simple Goals Planner printable:

- complete a few pages at a time.
- use eraseable pens on the goalsetting pages so you can easily erase mistakes or want to reword something. Of course, you can easily reprint the page too

- complete the goal breakdown tracker and pick a goal progress tracker for that #1 goal
- put your planner pdf in a place where you can see it all the time. if it’s out of sight, it’s out of mind.
