Menu Plan Monday – November 17, 2014
I am joining Menu Plan Monday hosted by Org Junkie and What’s for Dinner? Menu Planning Linkup hosted by Jill Conyers and Mommy Run Fast this week to share what we’re eating. The only topic I like to chat about as much as books is food!
Last week’s menu plan was a good one but I always seem to put too much on it and dishes get switched around when unexpected company shows up. The Cinnamon Roll Dippers have STILL eluded me.
This Week’s Menu Plan:
Sunday:
We went to the NC Comicon and were gone all day so we ate out.
Monday:
Leftovers since it’s my mom’s night off.
Tuesday:
I’d like to make more soups so asked my readers on my Facebook page about their favorite soup recipes. This week I’m going to make My Novel Opinion’s suggestion of Slow Cooker Tomato Basil Parmesan Soup and Grilled Cheese Croutons. If you have a favorite soup recipe, let me know on Facebook or in the comments, I’ll be trying a new one each week!
Wednesday:
Tamale Pie Casserole from Time with Thea
Thursday:
Leftovers
Friday:
Pizza
Saturday:
Cinnamon Roll Dippers from Le Creme de la Crumb
Bhel Puri – one of my favorite Indian dishes which is really just a snack in India. With puffed rice, crunchy sev, boiled potatoes, tomato, onion and sweet or mint chutney, it’s a delicious, light vegetarian meal. I have not made it before but all that’s needed is to boil potatoes and chop veggies and it’s easy to toss together and eat cold.
Sunday:
Easy Sausage Burritos from Raining Hot Coupons. I have yet to find a method for reheating frozen egg that my boys like. I am going to try Sarah’s method of wrapping in plastic wrap then aluminum foil and see if it heats up well. I’d love to make ahead burritos or egg muffins for quick breakfasts. If you’ve been around my blog or social media, you know I am NOT a morning person.
Copycat Macaroni Grill’s Penne Rustica from The Girl Who Ate Everything
Organizing Printables
I created a couple weekly planner printables to incorporate my menu plans into my week. Check them out and download for free if it will help you with your weekly goal and menu planning.

What’s on your menu plan for this week? What freeze ahead or crockpot meals does your family enjoy?
That soup looks amazing! I hope you review it as I’m always looking for soup recipes. I made a basil tomato soup awhile ago but it had tortellini in it which my husband wasn’t sold on. Sounds like you’re going to have a tasty week. The cinnamon roll dippers look delish as well!
The soup was really good! It made a ton and we ate every drop of it! Mine didn’t come out as pretty but all my boys enjoyed it.
Some great meal ideas here. Cheers from Carole’s Chatter!
My husband just had dental surgery so we’re on a soft foods diet until Thanksgiving — soups, risotto, and pasta were on the menu.
Hi Tanya! Thank you for including my Tamale Pie recipe! I hope you enjoyed it? Did you end up with leftovers?
It’s on the menu plan for tonight so I look forward to making it. It’s been a crazy day because littlest guy is running a fever and lots of appointments. Hope I can get to it! If not today, this week sometime since I already have the ingredients. I hope we have leftovers so kids and hubby can have a hot lunch tomorrow. Thanks for sharing and stopping by!
I’m so intrigued by the Bhel Puri…I may have to try my hand at it, thank you for sharing!
You’re welcome Nora. I can’t wait to make it at home for the first time.
That soup sounds really delicious & perfect for this cooler weather!
Uh huh, I can’t wait to try that one out! My youngest came down with a fever so lets hope it breaks tomorrow so we can go to the grocery store! Stay dry and warm!
Oh well now I am hungry. I will definitely be over Saturday..LOL
Sweet! I can’t guarantee we will be much warmer but hopefully no snow! I love to cook for people as long as food comes out good 🙂
I’m on a soft foods diet (stupid TMJ) so I’m gonna have to check out some soup recipes myself, though that penne pasta looks pretty scrumptious 🙂
Oh sorry to hear that but soups are perfect I suppose. What are your fave soup recipes? That chicken tater tot casserole recipe you posted looks really good!
You’ll have to let me know what you think of the soup 🙂 We also recently tried a chicken parm soup but it ended up more like a stew than a soup…still really tasty. I’ll have to try and remember where I got the recipe from.
I love tomato soup. I am sure I will love it, not sure of the boys 🙂 thanks for sharing the recipe!
Making this today. Where did you get grilled cheese croutons recipe from?
I stopped by from MPM. I too love soups, especially this time of year and started a Soup Saturday edition to my menus. You can find all of my soup recipes at http://adayinthelifeonthefarm.blogspot.com/2012/08/soups.html. Your tomato soup looks delicious. It is going on my list.
Thanks for stopping by Wendy, ive pinned some of your recipes! I do hope you will add 3 of your favorite posts to our Small Victories Sunday linkup!
