Monster Review-a-thon Goals and Updates
I am joining Kate and Kristen from the Book Monsters who are hosting a Review-a-thon this weekend to catch up on writing book reviews. There is also a Twitter chat today, Saturday February 23rd from 7pm to 9pm CST, 8pm to 10pm EST.
My Goals:
1. Write 3-5 book reviews this weekend. The last 10 books I have read needing review include:
* Here I Go Again by Jen Lancaster – Done, posted review here.
* Persuasion by Jane Austen
* Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey
* The Pilot’s Wife audiobook by Anita Shreve – Done, review posted here
* Lone Wolf audiobook by Jodi Picoult
* Unenchanted by Chandra Hahn
* Secrets She Left Behind by Diane Chamberlain
* The Alchemyst (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel) by Michael Scott
2. Participate in the Twitter chat – Done, met some helpful and experienced book bloggers
3. Comment on reviews/progress of other participants. – visited everyone from the sign-ups and going to make another round to see what participants have completed.
I love these opportunities to network with other bloggers and catch up on some tasks at the same time. If you’d like to join us, visit Kate from the Book Monsters to sign up. Hope to see you there!
What books would you like to hear more about? What books have you read that you still need to review? Let me know your thoughts and hope you will join in if you are a book blogger!
Good luck getting all of your reviews done!
I really want to do an -a-thon, but I am just so not good at going with the flow (especially when I’m moving in a little over a week). I’m just the kind of person that needs more notice. So if you find out about an -a-thon early, send me a tweet or a FB message! I really want to join one!!!
All? No. I’m guilty of having an exceedingly long list of books I want to write reviews for. But I may meet my 3-5 goal, 2 down so far.
I will be sure to give you more advance notice and retweeted some of the events I found out about in today’s twitter chat to you also. I’m with you, I need some notice. But then, I also didn’t commit to too much. After going through this a couple times, I know it’s hard to meet all your goals since my favorite part of these really is meeting other bloggers, discussing books and blogging and visiting their sites. Hope you are having a good weekend!
LOVE LOVE LOVE The Pilot’s Wife. She actually wrote two other books (Sea Glass and Fortune’s Rocks) that take place in the same house but at different periods of time. If you read all three, you will get the references. I love things like that 😉
Wow, I totally didn’t know that the house was linked to two other books, that is kinda cool. I think the narrator killed this audiobook for me so I didn’t love it as much as you did. The story was good and it certainly made you think about how well you know a person and spurred some funny and interesting conversations with my Superhubby. But I would lose focus with the narrator’s lack of expression in her voice. I will put the other books on my to-read list because the setting did seem captivating! My friend recommended Anita Shreve to me and next time I know to get the real book instead of audiobook. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Alright, just for you Allison, I worked on my review of the Pilot’s Wife next for Monsterthon. You got my wheels turning again about it. It always helps to talk it over with someone about it before posting thoughts on the blog. Let me know what you think! https://momssmallvictories.com/the-pilots-wife-by-anita-shreve-book-review/
Great goals! I can’t wait to chat with you ladies tonight. Now off to write my own reviews.
Thanks Kristen! I appreciate you and Kate hosting this…I soooo needed it! What other blogging events/link-ups do you all host? Gotta be sure to add them to my calendar! Talk to you later.
We’re going to be doing a readathon at the end of March followed by another reviewathon. We’ll have dates up soon on the blog. 🙂
Sounds great Kristen, I look forward to it!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today! =)
Ive got a note to participate in the twitter chat, thanks!
Yay! Then I look forward to chatting it up later with you!
So glad you’ve joined – look forward to chatting with you this evening!
Gotta tell you – every time you mention author Diane Chamberlain – I hear/see Diane Chambers (from Cheers) in my mind!
Have a great day (and I AM going to try and get a little cat nap in for a bit!)
Lol, I love Cheers! Hope you had some restful sleep so you’re awake for our twitter chat later. Look forward to speaking with you as always!
