My Weekly Recap
Reading:
For the Travel the World in Books Readathon, I finished reading A Sister’s Promise by Renita D’Silva. Renita is one of my favorite Indian authors and if you want to immerse yourself in India’s culture, you must try her books out. Review coming soon!
I had put down The Determined Heart by Antoinette May because I just was not getting into it. I do not like abandoning books or writing negative reviews. However, I’m on the blog tour so I’m finishing this historical fiction one way or another. The beginning was a bit of a Cinderella story where Mary Shelley (yes, the author of Frankenstein) loses her mother and her father remarries an uncaring stepmother. Needless to say, I didn’t like how the stepmother treats Mary and her sister. Luckily, Mary’s future husband, Percy Shelley, has entered the scene and his charm and circumstance certainly makes me wonder what will happen….the synopsis says the consequences are disastrous, my interest is piqued.
Next up, I’ll be reading I am Malala for Nonfiction November’s readalong. Will you be reading some nonfiction with us? The Travel the World in Books Reading Challenge November theme is nonfiction so we can all participate in Nonfiction November and learn about other countries and cultures while we’re at it!
