Summer Biannual Blogathon Bash Goals and Accomplishments
The Biannual Blogathon Bash started todayJune 21st and lasts until June 24th, a weekend dedicated to learning new ways to improve my blog through mini-challenges, whittle away at my blog to-do list and network with other bloggers in the process.
I participated in the Winter Biannual Blogathon and absolutely loved the experience. I learned new techniques, got a free blog planner and really dedicated a lot of time to making improvements behind the scenes. Although I had my own goals last time, the mini-challenges are what really helped me last time so I decided to focus on the mini-challenges this time around.
While I didn’t make any progress today Friday, my goals for this weekend are were simply:
1. to complete as many mini-challenges as I can and
2. to participate in the Twitter parties to be eligible for some AWESOME prizes. – attended 3 Twitter chats
I am particularly interested in completing the mini-challenges on
* Understanding Google PageRank, Alexa Rating and Klout – done! depressed but done and it’s good to have scores to focus on. Find me on Klout here and help me boost my score.
* Keeping my Blog and Online Self Secure
* SEO Basics, the Perfect About Page – done, see my updated About Me page
* The Art to Irresistible Post Titles
* Branding Basics – done
* Writing a Series or Theme on Your Blog – done, stay tuned for what series I will be starting!
* Understanding Blog Policies – done, updated my Book Review Policy Page
I may not be able to get to them all but there are so many great ones to choose from.
As for the prizes, there are 27 different prizes and multiples of many of them. Who couldn’t use a year of free hosting, an SEO Basics eBook (I won one during the last Blogathon), a subscription to Dreamstimes.com Stock Photography Site, social media manangement assistance, free ad space or Momcomm’s DIY Blog Critique eBook? I know I could!
It looks like I’ve got my work cut out for me despite a late start. Good luck to everyone participating and hoping we all get some productive work on our blogs done this weekend. It’s not to late to sign up and I love that this is a no pressure event, put in as much time as you want to it, when you can. Not convinced? Check out the Blogathon site for yourself for more info and blogging tips galore!

Hey Tanya,
Good for you!
I have no idea what I need to work on. Probably everything.
Sigh.
I hope you have a great weekend!
oh good luck to you on all of that!! That will for sure keep you busy busy!! I have lots of blogging things on my plate right now: events, conferences, radio shows it is getting intense. I hope things will slow down one day lol!!
Oh Alexa. Blergh. I’m like 1/4 the way through understanding/caring about that. Bad, blogger, bad! Is it hard, should I be concerned?
Thanks for all the great resources! I have a lot of catching up to do with my blog!
Wow! That’s a lot! Don’t worry, I’m sure most of us get depressed looking at our page ranks! At least we enjoy blogging and connecting, which is what is important!
Hi Tanya! Nice to meet you from our mommy blog group. Your list sounds amazing. I definitely need to read up on Klout, Alexa, etc. There’s always something with blogging, isn’t there? I feel good that I was just able to transfer from blogger to wordpress, get on Twitter, etc. But clearly I have more work to do!
I did this too I got a lot of much needed work done
Sounds like you had a lot to do. I’m still not knowledgeable on quite a few of those things but I’m not too worried. I keep hearing about finding your “niche” and I’m sure I will one day. I’m visiting from our blog group and have now added you to bloglovin so I don’t miss a post. 🙂
Sounds like my goals! Im building my blogging business this year and working very hard. : )
Thanks Tess. I hope to build my blogging business too. It is a lot of work! Good luck to you and thanks for stopping by. I look forward to hearing more from you.
Oh my goodness, Tanya! You’ve been really busy, and it seems like you’ve learned a lot, too. I need to look into some of this stuff – I have Klout, but something strange has happened, and it’s now connected to one of my kids’ Twitter account 🙁 I have to get it connected to my own.
Have a wonderful week, Tanya, happy reading!
How fun! I had not heard about the blog bash but I love things like that!
Me too Sheila! The next one is in January. Will you be doing Bloggiesta in July? Hopefully I can get more involved and devote more time to that one.
I am so very sorry it’s been so long since I visited your blog, but I’m glad to be back! This blogging challenge looks great – so many things to do to improve your status! One thing I don’t understand about Klout is how we follow people or do we not follow people? I don’t even see an option?
I had not even heard of this blogging challenge, but it sounds like it was chock full of really good information! And I agree with the Dose girls – so hard to be productive in the summer! I need to join forces with another blogger like they do to divide and conquer!
Best of luck to you Tanya! We had an emergency crop up this weekend so I am not sure if I will make it to the Twitter parties as planned but wanted to let you know I am cheering you on! 🙂
Great picks for the mini-challenges! They all sound worthwhile. I think I’m going to focus on my to-do list and then do a few of these mini-challenges at a later date (translation – probably never! :P)
Good chatting with you at the Twitter party!
Thanks. I think I have opposite goals which means my to-do list are the things that never get done! Eek! I always say I’ll go back and do the Bloggiesta and Blogathon mini-challenges too, such great info that people share. Great hearing from you and thanks for stopping by…I look forward to seeing what your plugin and feature have in store for us WP users 🙂
Your list of to-do’s is very complete and I feel like if I mastered all of those, we would make great leaps forward on our blog. Good luck!
Over from SITS!
Thanks for stopping by, there’s always something to do huh? Blogging is a lot more work than I thought it’d ever be, but fun and rewarding as well!
I had a bunch of bloggy to-do items for this week…and I didn’t get to ANY of them! Getting things done in the summer has proved harder than I expected!! Hope you get to your bloggy goals for the weekend. Your topics for the mini-challenges sound REALLY interesting!! –Lisa
It has been hard for me to get back to blogging this summer. We went on vacation and then had company so still trying to get back in the swing of things. I completed the one on Google Page Rank, Alexa and Klout, it’s both depressing and strangely motivating. I gotta get to work! Thanks for stopping by Lisa, glad to hear from you as always!
