I hope you enjoyed the fun we’ve been having with the Travel the World in Books Readathon. We talked over at my co-host Becca’s blog the other day about nonfiction books that we’ve read or want to read to explore our world. Since Becca is hosting Nonfiction November next month, I thought it would be a great time to join in the fun and encourage our Travel the World in Books participants to read nonfiction as well.

About Nonfiction November

Becca, Kim, Leslie, Katie and Bex have quite a Calendar of Events for Nonfiction November with weekly discussions and linkups, a readalong of I am Malala by Malala Yousafzai and Christina Lamb and a nonfiction book swap. Check out the Calendar for all the details.

Read With Us!

Where in the world will you be reading for Nonfiction November? Let us know you’re joining in with a simple blog link, social media link or comment. I’ll be having a Twitter chat to talk about what we’re reading on Monday, November 30, 2015 from 9-10pm EST using the #TTWIB and #NonficNov hashtags. Feel free to tell us what and where in the world you’ll be reading for Travel the World in Books and Nonfiction November. Don’t forget to head to Becca’s blog and let her know your joining in Nonfiction November too

My Nonfiction November Goals

I'm reading I am Malala for Travel the World in Books Reading Challenge & Nonfiction November 2015. An inspiring true story of a Pakistani girl who fights for her right to an education.

I’ve been wanting to read I am Malala for awhile now so my goal is to read that and participate in the readalong discussion hosted by Katie from Doing Dewey during Nonfiction November. My oldest son also wants to read it and I think it will make for some important discussions with him.

For the Right to Learn by Rebecca Langston

If I can get my hands on For the Right to Learn by Rebecca Langston, I’ll be reading this with my younger two sons. Thanks to Lovely Bookshelf for letting me know about this book.

Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, a girl's memoir about growing up during the Islamic Revolution in Iran.

If I can get through Malala during the month, I’ll try out Persepolis also. Isi was reading it for our Travel the World in Books Readathon about a girl’s childhood in Iran and it seems to go along well with Malala. Since it’s a graphic novel, hopefully it will be a quick and important read to understand the plight of women across the world.

What will you be reading for Nonfiction November and Travel the World in Books? Let us know and join in the fun!

  1. Oh yay! Thanks for joining in with us 🙂 I love how much you do for Travel the World in Books and would like to do better keeping up with it. There’s just always so much going on, I’ve been doing a bad job of it. Hopefully next year I’ll have graduated and have more time!

    1. Aw, thanks Katie. I love the Travel the World challenge and making it flexible so participants can make it as hard or easy on themselves as they want. I need to get to reading Malala!

  2. Thanks for the mention, Tanya!
Hope you like the book – I’m sure you will. You’ll learn about the recent history of Iran, as well as the problems the author faced due to being “different” from their peers in Europe.
