Travel the World in Books Readathon Oct 2015, Day 5: Pretty Bookmarks and Books from Australia/Europe
Welcome to Day 5 of our Travel the World in Books Readathon. Today we get to start sharing recommendations for books from around the world and share our love for pretty bookmarks and covers. I know I’m a sucker for pretty bookmarks and I totally judge a book I have not heard of by it’s cover, what about you? We also have our first Twitter chat from 2-3pm EST. Be sure to follow #TTWIBRAT and your hosts @momsvictories and @beccalostinbooks and tell us what you’ve been reading.
If you haven’t heard, our readathon goal is quite simple…to get you reading more about other countries and cultures than your own. It’s both a learning opportunity and a great excuse to cozy up with a good book and travel to places you might not otherwise be able to visit!
My fabulous co-hosts Becca, Savvy, Lucy and Aloi and I have a great couple of weeks in store for you, check out the entire schedule of events here.
Mini-Challenge
Today’s mini-challenge is brought to you by my creative and talented Spanish book blogging friend From Isi. Besides running a book blog in English, Isi creates wonderful bookmarks that she’s giving away to participants of her International Bookmarks & Books Mini-Challenge. Just look at these lovely Alice in Wonderland and Princess Bride bookmarks and typewritten letter she sent to me, I loved everything about these even the packaging was gorgeous! Head over to her blog and share pictures of your favorite international bookmarks & books and enter to win these amazing bookmarks she made just for our Travel the World in Books event!
Daily Discussion Posts
This year we want to get YOU talking about your favorite books, authors, genres, and characters. Every day we’ll have a different topic of discussion. You can write a new blog post, link up a couple of old posts that are pertinent to the topic and/or leave comments answering our questions. Linkups will be open through 11/7/15 ( a week after the readathon ends to give you plenty of time to write a new post if you want).
Today’s discussion topic: Books or authors from Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Rim or Europe
Share your favorites or books you want to read that are set in Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Rim or Europe or by authors from these countries.
Instagram Photo Challenge
Are you hooked on Instagram like I am? If I could choose another career, I’d want to be a photographer. I’m happy that we’re doing an Instagram challenge for our Travel the World in Books Readathon, using our new shorter #TTWIBRAT hashtag. Be sure to follow your hosts on Instagram too: Tanya, Becca Lucy and Aloi.
Tag each day’s photos with the #TTWIBRAT hashtag. Don’t worry if you miss a day, just share and tag the photo with #TTWIBRAT anytime! Today, head over and show us your favorite books and authors or the books you want to read from Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Rim or Europe. Have fun and I’ll see you on Instagram!

Hey there! I’m a sucker for a cute bookmark myself. I’m loving this idea! I like reading books that are set in other places, it lets the imagination wonder through places otherwise unseen or thought about.
Glad to hear from you Leslie! I love bookmarks too and this is such a clever challenge. I do hope you’ll join our readathon and have a chance to win one of 18 great books!
