Travel the World in Books Readathon Oct 2015, Day 6: Reading in Amsterdam and North/South America Books
Happy readathoning! Where in the world has your reading been taking you these past few days? I’m still in England with The Determined Heart (historical fiction about Frankenstein author, Mary Shelley) but I’m getting some wanderlust seeing where everyone is reading on Instagram and I may just have to start reading a new book soon.
If you haven’t heard, our Travel the World in Books readathon goal is quite simple…to get you reading more about other countries and cultures than your own. It’s both a learning opportunity and a great excuse to cozy up with a good book and travel to places you might not otherwise be able to visit!
My fabulous co-hosts Becca, Savvy, Lucy and Aloi and I have a great couple of weeks in store for you, check out the entire schedule of events here.
Guest Post
Today, our friend Kate from Diary of an Urban Housewife is sharing her experience as an American expat living in Amsterdam. I love reading Kate’s blog as she tours Europe and tells us all about it. In honor of our love of books, Kate is sharing her 5 Favorite Reading Spots in Amsterdam. Doesn’t that garden picture look just like The Forgotten Garden? Stop over at my co-host Savvy Working Gal’s blog to read all about Kate’s 5 Favorite Reading Spots in Amsterdam. Thanks for sharing a glimpse of Amsterdam with us Kate, such a beautiful city!
Daily Discussion Posts
This year we want to get YOU talking about your favorite books, authors, genres, and characters. Every day we’ll have a different topic of discussion. You can write a new blog post, link up a couple of old posts that are pertinent to the topic and/or leave comments answering our questions. Linkups will be open through 11/7/15 ( a week after the readathon ends to give you plenty of time to write a new post if you want).
Today’s discussion topic: North or South America books
Share your favorite books or books you’d like to read that are set in North or South America or by North or South American authors.
Instagram Photo Challenge
Instagram challenges are so fun and you should see all the great pictures that are being shared for our first Travel the World in Books Readathon photo challenge. Remember to use our new shorter #TTWIBRAT hashtag and kindly follow your hosts on Instagram too: Tanya, Becca, Lucy and Aloi.
Tag each day’s photos with the #TTWIBRAT hashtag. Don’t worry if you miss a day, just share and tag the photo with #TTWIBRAT anytime! Today, head over AND share books and/or favorite authors from North and South America. Have fun and I’ll see you on Instagram!
